The anti-Jewish policy of Nablus, the all-Arab city which forbids the settlement of Jews within its boundaries, is slowly ruining the city, according to official figures in the Arab report released here.
They disclose that Nablus, which before the war had a population of 33,000 and, in the 1931 census, 17,000, today numbers less than 12,000 inhabitants. This is ascribed to the economic situation and the attendant increasing unemployment, which has caused an Arab exodus from Nablus to towns with a Jewish population or to Arab towns bordering on Jewish settlements where employment may be found.
