The establishment of full diplomatic relations between Israel and Brazil through the exchange of ministers between the two states was predicted here by Dr. Abraham Drapkin, of the Latin-American Department of the Israel Foreign Office.

Although Brazil has extended de jure recognition to Israel, there is only an “Honorary Israel Consul” in Rio de Janeiro and no Brazilian envoy in Tel Aviv. Before he left, Dr. Drapkin expressed appreciation for the reception he had received from members of the Brazilian Government.
