An exchange of populations between Iraq and Israel was advocated here last night by Richard Crossman, Labor M.P., as a solution for the problem of restoring normal relations between the Jews and Arabs in the Middle East. Mr. Crossman was speaking at a public meeting sponsored by the British Zionist Federation to celebrate President Weizmann’s 75th birthday.
Mr. Crossman also termed “slightly ironic” suggestions “by bishops and even archbishops” that Israel entrust the fate of Jerusalem to the United Nations. He pointed out that these same clerics “did nothing when Jerusalem was shelled by Arab guns with British ammunition.”
