A broad program to expand Torah education in Latin America was adopted at a five-day conference of the Latin American branches of the Agudath Israel world movement, which opened here on Thursday. The conference also laid the groundwork for a “program of pan-American Orthodox Jewish cooperation,” under which North American Jewish communities will sponsor new projects in South American countries to mobilize Jewish youth for closer commitment to religious observance. Rabbi Moshe Sherer, president of Agudath Israel of America, was the guest of honor at a reception at the American Embassy tendered by Ambassador John Davis Lodge.
