Thirty-three new Reform congregations were established in the Western hemisphere in the last year, bringing the total to 605 Temples, Rabbi Maurice N. Eisendrath, president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, reported here last night to the spring meeting of the UAHC board of trustees.

Only the lack of sufficient funds hampers UHAC plans for meeting an “exploding. expanding program” of further Temple development, the religious leader told the board. Applications for 18 new congregations are on hand now, Dr. Eisendrath stated.

Dr. Eisendrath challenged the leaders of the UAHC to shape “imaginative fund-raising programs” to strengthen the combined campaign for American reform Judaism and the Development Fund for American Judaism, which raise monies for the UAHC and the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
