An explosive charge concealed in an iron pipe was found by police today in the area where Israeli soldiers killed a grenade-throwing terrorist yesterday. The device, attached to a detonator and a watch, was dismantled safely. The soldiers had been waiting at the Beth-Lid road junction to hitch rides to Netanya when they were attacked with two hand grenades and small arms fire. The grenades failed to explode and the soldiers killed the assailant. Today, police detained the driver of a car suspected of having brought the terrorist to the road junction from Shakwa, a village near the West Bank town of Tulkarem. Two members of the terrorist’s family were also detained.
