The new Roumanian school law affecting principally the organization of high schools was passed by parliament with a few amendments in favor of the national minorities in the country.

Dr. William Filderman, in speaking on the bill, urged the Government to eliminate from the school text books references derogatory to the Jews. The deputy also complained that the school authorities admit only one half the number of Jewish pupils in proportion to the Jewish population. In view of these facts, which also apply to the other minorities, the talk of the Roumanian anti-Semites that the Jews “overcrowed the Roumanian schools” is nothing but mockery, he stated.
