Extension of Marshall Plan aid to Israel was urged yesterday by Louis Hollander, president of the New York State CIO, upon his return from a two-month tour of western Europe and Israel. He said he would ask the next meeting of the national CIO executive board to consider his proposal.
Mr. Hollander added that he would ask the CIO to “engage in an active drive among” Administration leaders and State Department officials to apply the Marshall Plan to Israel.” Declaring that the U.S. Government has an “interest in preserving and strengthening the new state,” Mr. Hollander emphasized that “Israel is the only democratic base la the Middle East; all other countries in the area are still feudal.
