The failure of the Greek Government to recognize Israel was today termed a “grave omission” by Alexander Vamvetsos, a member of the national parliament. Vamvetsos made his remarks during the course of a parliamentary debate.
The conservative newspaper Estia today called for recognition of the Jewish state despite what the newspaper called the “not friendly” attitude of Israel toward Greece. The Greek Government should not be “late” in extending diplomatic recognition lest it be accused of being compelled to do so, Estia said.
