It was learned here today that the rebels have converted into a military hospital the historic Cordoba synagogue which last year had been turned over to the Jews of that city during festivities marking the 800th anniversary of the birth of Maimonides, famous Jewish sage. Cordoba was the birthplace of Maimonides, popularly known as the Rambam.
It was reported here that Leon Baum, well-known Paris Jewish Communist and one of the first volunteers from abroad to join the Spanish loyalist forces, was killed during action on the San Sebastian front.
