The source of all the trouble with regard to the anti-Semitic student excesses in Roumania is to be found in the fact that Roumania has too many students.

This opinion was expressed by Dr. Radulescu Motru, famous Roumanian scientist and professor of psychology at the University of Bucharest, who joined the protest of the Professors of the University of Jassy against the anti-Semitic student excesses.

In approving the memorandum submitted by the Jassy professors to the government, Professor Motru pointed to the fact that Roumania has too many students. “For instance,” he said, “the Philological Department of the Bucharest University has 1,500 students. When the students conclude their studies and begin to seek positions which they are unable to obtain, they enter politics being immature and irresponsible. Roumania must establish more professional schools, where people should be taught to work,” he stated.
