ANTI-JEWISH DISORDERS IN THE SILESIAN TOWNS OF BIALA AND BIELSKO WERE REPORTED HERE TODAY AFTER A JEWISH RESTAURANT OWNER IN BIELSKO, KARL NORMAN, HAD SHOT AND KILLED A DRUNKEN POLISH WORKER WHO ATTACKED HIM WITH A KNIFE.

AFTER MINOR DISORDERS AND WINDOW-BREAKING, WHICH THE POLICE BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL, ANTI-SEMITES DURING THE NIGHT DEMOLISHED A NUMBER OF JEWISH SHOPS AND BROKE WINDOWS OF JEWISH HOMES AND SYNAGOGUES. MANY ARRESTS WERE MADE.

THE DISTURBANCES BROKE OUT DESPITE THE APPEAL OF THE DEAD MAN’S FATHER TO FUNERAL CROWDS TO RESPECT HIS SON’S NAME, KEEP ORDER AND NOT ATTACK INNOCENT PERSONS.
