Father Charles E. Coughlin’s reference to the Rothschilds alone among the bankers in an address to 15,000 Dakota and Minnesota farmers recalled his previous practice of concentrating on Jewish names in denunciation of bankers.

The head of the Union for Social Justice, now supporting the candidacy of William Lemke for president, charged last night that under the Roosevelt administration the right of Congress to coin money was being used “for the Rothschilds of Wall Street.”

It was the second time in recent weeks that he mentioned only the Rothschilds in discussing the bankers. Last year, he was condemned for devoting his attention largely to Jewish financiers in an address during which he assailed “international” bankers.

In the past, Father Coughlin has denied accusations that in singling out Jewish bankers he was indulging in a subtle form of anti-Semitism.
