The House Immigration Committee met in executive session yesterday morning and it is understood from reliable sources discussed both the Wadsworth amendment and Congressman Sabath’s bill to admit additional relatives of both citizens and declarants and to repeal the national origins plan. No decision was reached, the committee adjourning until Monday when another meeting will be held.
It is understood that while none of the members definitely committed themselves not only was a more or less sympathetic attitude displayed by those who hitherto have opposed amending the law but there was even some discussion of adding the parents and children between eighteen and twenty-one of citizens.
Congressman Perlman conferred yesterday with Republican majority leader, Tilson, who declared that he will support the Wadsworth amendment and will urge Chairman Johnson and other members of the Immigration Committee to act favorably upon it.
