New elections in Austria, with a Nazi government elected to power, are seen as imminent following a conference yesterday between Chancellor Adolph Hitler and Austrian Nazi leaders.
The Christian Socialists will join in a coalition with the Nazis, in order to adjust Austrian politics to Germany’s politics, it is learned.
Hitler, it is stated, demanded new elections and a change in policy as a condition preliminary to rendering financial and economic assistance to the country. This is confirmed in part by the Nazi press.
The change in the Austrian government will take place early this spring, it is feared.
