The largest Jewish fraternal order in the United States, the Independent Order Brith Abraham, announced that through the activity of Congressman Nathan D. Perlman of the Fourteenth District the Order would begin on September 2nd a drive to prepare for citizenship every alien Jew in the country. The plan has the support of Secretary of Labor James J. Davis. A night and day school for men and women will be conducted, and every effort will be made to speed up the Naturalization Court procedure.
Congressman Perlman, who was named head of a committee to take up the matter of the lack of instruction facilities for Jews who seek citizenship, has reported on his plan to Adolph Stern, Grand Master of the Order.
It was pointed out yesterday that women whose husbands became citizens after September, 1922, must make separate application for naturalization. Under the Cable law the wives of citizens admitted after September, 1922, do not enjoy the privileges accorded their husbands and remain aliens in the eyes of the Government.
