The forty-fifth convention of the Federation of American Churches was opened here yesterday. Among the subjects which are to be discussed at the convention is the question of anti-Semitism in America.
The Executive Committee of the Federation has decided to combat the growth of anti-Semitism in America in an effective way and has appointed a committee to deal with this subject. A sufficient sum guaranteeing an annual budget of $15,000 for the next three years was assured. The fund is to be used in a campaign to create a better understanding between Christians and Jews.
The Conference will consider the recommendations submitted to it by the executive committee and will decide on the best ways and means of how to establish more friendly relations between Christians and Jews and to check the anti-Semitic propaganda which seems to be growing.
Dr. Robert E. Spear, a New York church leader, was the first to advocate that the Federation start this movement to combat anti-Semlism.
