An educational campaign in West Germany, to acquaint German youth with the history and attitudes of Jews in Israel and in the rest of the world, is being considered by the American Federation of Jews from Central Europe, it was announced by Dr. Curt L. Silberman, president of the Federation.
At an all-day conference of the Federation here, Mr. Silberman stressed the need for such a campaign. “It is incumbent upon experts in Jewish matters, ” he said, “to provide this information and tap the reservoir of good will existing today among the younger Germans and among the liberal forces in the Federal Republic. ” Addresses were also delivered at the conference by Peter Stadelmayer, program director of the Goethe House in New York, and by Prof. John Herz, of the City University of New York.
