Dr. Judah L. Magnes, Chancellor of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Mrs. Magnes were the guests of honor at a dinner given by Mr. and Mrs. Felix M. Warburg at the Hotel Biltmore last night.
Dr. Magnes came to America last week to report to the University Committee, of which Mr. Warburg is chairman, on the progress of the University during the last two years. The University is now three years old and already has departments in Judaism, Oriental studies, Mathematics, Public Hygiene, Parasitology, Bio-chemistry, Botany, Geology and Zoology. The University also has a Library numbering 200,000 volumes. The University was begun as a research and graduate institution, but a few departments for undergraduate instruction have been added.
