Dr. ### Feuchtwanger’s most recent### “The Oppermanns”, is causin### excitement in the official ### Nazi press because, according ### Voelkischer Beobachter, it e### “the most horrible and sh### acts allegedly committed in### many to the Jewish heroes ### book.”

The London press, especially ### Daily Herald, Laborite paper, ### in for a great deal of criticis### praising the book. The Beoba### asks how Feuchtwanger could ###sibly have written a novel a### atrocities in Germany when he ### not been in Germany since the ###ler revolution.

Nevertheless the contents of ### book seem to be of so much ### importance to the German government ### that the official representative of ### Nazi press in London found ### necessary to cable home a report ### the reception of the book in E### land. In his report the Nazi jo###nalist claimed that there is no sy###pathy among British readers ### the Oppermann family, the ce### figures of Feuchtwanger’s novel.
