The Jewish Scientific Institute has drawn up a chart in which it makes comparison between drunkenness among the Jewish population and the Polish population. Figures were collected from 43 towns, six of which had no record of Jews being arrested by the police for drunkenness. For the other 37 towns the chart shows that there are 86 Jewish drunkards for every 100,000 Jews.
The Jews are lowest on the scale of drunkards in comparison with other religious groups. The highest percentage of drunkenness is found among the Greek Catholics. Next are the Catholics and then the Lutherans. According to the chart, the Jews of Czenstochof drink the most, showing 3.1 per cent drunks among 1,000 Jews. The smallest percentage of Jewish drunkenness is in Lodz, Stanislavow and Tarnow, each showing 0.2 Jewish drunkards per 1,000 Jews. The Jews of Warsaw show 0.3 per 1,000 Jews.
