‘fiddler’ Breaks Performance Record

“Fiddler on the Roof,” the American musical based on the tales of Sholom Aleichem, will have its 2,845th performance Wednesday night making it the longest-lived musical in Broadway history. The runner-up “Hello Dolly,” logged 2,844 performances. “Fiddler,” which was capitalized at $375,000, has returned a 927 percent profit to its investors and to producer Harold Prince. To date, the show has netted $6,952,500 and has been seen by an estimated 35.5 million persons all over the world.
