The fifth anniversary of the Youth Aliyah movement was celebrated today at a meeting of the national board of Hadassah. An exchange of cables between the board and Miss Henrietta Szold, American-born founder of the organization who heads the Youth Aliyah bureau in Jerusalem, disclosed that a group of 60 Austrian boys and girls who left Berlin last week will arrive in Haifa on February 19, the day which marks the arrival of the first contingent of child refugees five years ago.
Mrs. David B. Greenberg, national Youth Aliyah chairman, has cabled $10,000 to Miss Szold as a birthday and anniversary gift to be used for the education and maintenance of the children. The gift comprises contributions from individual members of Hadassah who recently observed their founder’s birthday by serving a “sacrifice” meal and donating the sums thus saved for their charges in the Holy Land.
