Fifty legislators have sent letters to President Joao Baptista Figueiredo urging the government to allow the Palestine Liberation Organization to open an office in Brazil. They said Brazil should follow the example of other nations which have permitted the PLO to open offices. Farid Sawan, the PLO’s representative in Brazil, has said frequently he believes it is only a matter of time before the Brazilian government authorizes an office.
