The first film in a new series of monthly news reviews issued under the general title of “Israel Today,” was released today on a worldwide basis by Palestine Films. The films will treat various aspects of life in the new Jewish state.
The first film, “Israel Reborn.” dealing with the historic events of May 15 all over the world and particularly with Israel’s proclamation of independence and scenes of the Haganah’s defense against Arab invasion, was previewed here yesterday at a special function attended by Edward M.M. Warburg, chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee, former Gov. Herbert H. Lehman and former Assistant Secretary of State Maj. Gen. John H. Hilldring.
The first issue is being released in Hebrew, English, Spanish, French, Russian and Africans. The Russian version will be taken to Moscow by Goldie Meirson, Israel’s first Minister to the U.S.S.R., it was announced by Norman Lourie, president of Palestine Films. The second issue of “Israel Today” will be released August 1.
