“The phenomena of race conflicts in this country can be reduced to a fundamental proposition, namely, that an unsound economic system is the breeding ground of racial antagonism,” declared Dr. Israel Goldstein last night in an address over Station WEVD.

Speaking on “Race Conflicts, An Aspect of an Unsound Economic Order,” Dr. Goldstein, as a member of The Nation radiotorial board, reviewed the prejudice against Asiatics and Negroes in this country and said that behind the racial and tehological reasons for anti-Semitism here lies a more fundamental cause, “the competition which the Jew offers to the non-Jew in business and in the professions.

Asserting that anti-Semitic feeling invariably arise during periods of economic depression, Dr. Goldstein said that the only way to reduce this problem to an irreducible minimum is to “work for a reconstruction of our economic system in order that under a sound economic order the hope of brotherhood and fellowship may at last berealized.”
