Seven boys and one girl have been tried by the magistrate at Tel-Aviv today on a charge of insulting the director of the Alliance Israelite school in Tel-Aviv, Mr. Silberstein, because he refused to allow them to continue distributing leaflets among the pupils of the school urging them to leave and join the Zionist schools instead. Six have been acquitted and the other two have been fined 540 piastres each.
The pupils charged are members of the local Society for the Propagation of the Hebrew Language (Gdud Megini Hasafah) which has been conducting a campaign against the Alliance School on the ground that it is an assimilationist institution.
