Finland Bars Entry of 55 Austrian Refugees

The authorities have refused permanent Admission to a group of 55 Austrian Jewish refugees because of alleged irregularities in their passports. Destitute and without food for a return trip, they declared they would rather die than face Nazism again. The Helsingfors Jewish Community promised to provide food and shelter if the refugees, among whom are ten women and three children, were permitted Poland from the steamer that brought them. The permission was granted by a special session of the Cabinet.
