The synagogue of the town of Debrecen was burned down during the week-end by a fire of mysterious origin, it was reported here in dispatches from Debrecen.
A police investigation is already in progress, it was also reported. The synagogue has not been used in a number of years because of extensive damage caused by shelling and bombing during the war. Part of the building was in the process of being rebuilt when the fire broke out.
