First Casualty Among Jewish Chaplains; Rabbi Goode Reported Missing

The first casualty among Jewish chaplains in the forces was announced here today. Rabbi Alexander Goode, who served Congregation Beth Israel in York. Pa., is reported missing in the North Atlantic.

Chaplain Goode was aboard one of the two cargo transports sunk on the North Atlantic convoy route early in February. He was born in Brooklyn in 1911. He is a graduate of the Hebrew Union College and received his B.A. and Ph. D. from the University of Cincinnati and John Hopkins University, respectively.
