The first charter flight from the U.S. West Coast landed at Ben Gurion Airport this morning with 250 American passengers, including Mayor Tom Bradley of Los Angeles and his wife. The passengers were greeted by Minister of Tourism Moshe Kol as they disembarked from the World Airways jet. Hostesses distributed Israeli hats. Bradley said he hoped the success of the first charter flight would help strengthen Israel’s economy by encouraging more tourism.
