The first group of tourists from the Soviet Union to Israel is due in this country next week. The party of some 25 Jews and non-Jews is coming to Israel as part of a general tour organized by In tourist, a Soviet Government agency, Arrangements in this country are being handled by a private Israeli travel agency.
Visa applications filed by the Israeli firm last month were granted swiftly by the Israeli authorities. However, tourist officials here are reluctant to weigh the meaning of this development until after the first group arrives and after it becomes evident whether other Soviet visitors may be allowed to vacation in the Jewish State.
