The S.S. Dromit, the first Israel merchant vessel to enter English waters, sailed from here today for Haifa carrying a diversified cargo. Owned by the Shoham Shipping Corporation, the vessel is manned by a crew of 36 and flies the colors of the Israel merchant marine–a white circle enclosing the Shield of David against a dark blue background.
(In Haifa it was reported during the week-end that the Israel port and marine police have acquired the 15-ton motorship “Zatliath,” which was used by the British Navy during the Mandate period to patrol Palestine’s coastal waters against “illegal” Jewish immigration. The ship will be used for coastal patrolling.)
