The first National Conference for State of Israel Bonds will be held in Washington, from September 20 through September 23, it was announced here today by Julian B. Venezky, chairman of the executive committee of the American Financial and Development Corporation for Israel, which is directing the $500,000,000 Israel Bond drive.
“This National Conference, “Mr. Venezky stated in announcing the meeting, “will give Jewish leaders of America their first opportunity to meet on a national scale for the purpose of reviewing the economic situation in Israel and of developing plans to further the sale of State of Israel Bonds. Representatives will attend from Jewish communities through out the country, and from all important Jewish organizations, “Results through Bond drive to date have indicated an inspiring response from the American Jewish community, ” Mr. Venezky said.
More than 300 delegates representing 40,000 members of the Workmen’s Circle, largest labor fraternal organization in the United States, adopted a resolution calling on every member of the organization to purchase at least one Israel Bond. The Workman’s Circle has 75,000 members nationally. More than 500 Israel Bond divisions composes of trades, professions, Zionist, labor and fraternal organizations have been established in New York since May lst.
