The first diamond exchange in the Near East was opened here today. A Government representative, Fletcher, said he saw no reason why Palestine could not become one of the most important diamond centers in the world. Other speakers were Mayor Oved Ben-Ami of Nathamia, which now harbors several diamond factories employing hundreds of workers; Akiba Wish, president of the exchange; Mayor Israel Rokach of Tel Aviv and Chief Rabbi Moshe Avigdor Amiel of Tel Aviv.
