The first shipment of matzohs sent by the JDC for use this Passover has arrived in Constanza. Another shipment has been delayed Istanbul where the vessel carrying it is undergoing repairs.
The two shipments total 500 tons, but local JDC officials haw requested additional 300 tons, wince virtually the entire Jewish population is dependent aid from abroad. The government has waived customs duties on the shipments.
