Performance Concluded Under Police Protection (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

The first theatrical performance in the Yiddish language in Palestine was the occasion for a serious controversy last night.

The performance was given by the club of the Poale Zion in Tel Aviv. Members of the Gedudd Magtnei Ha’saffafi (Youth’s League for the Protection of the Hebrew Language) violently protested against the performance m Yiddish. A serious squabble resulted. The police intervened and arrested several from both sides.

The performance was concluded under the protection of twenty policemen.
