The first organized transport of Jews from Teheran, capital of Iran, bound for Israel via Turkey has made the trip. The group, consisting of 128 immigrants escorted by Jewish Agency officials, travelled in five buses.
Owing to the worsening economic and political situation in Iran and the consequent mounting insecurity of the Jewish population, organized groups of immigrants will continue to arrive here all winter despite anticipated harsh weather conditions. Originally, it was planned to initiate organized immigration after the spring.
