The five-man praesidium of the Central Committee of Liberated Jews in the American zone of Germany, which is headed by David Treger, resigned today in a dramatic climax to a two-day meeting here of the Committee.
The resignations came after heated inter-party political battles among the various Zionist groups. The political situation has been chaotic since a recent split in the Peale Zionist Party, and has been complicated by the fact that elections to the Central Committee are slated for next month. Efforts were being made tonight to persuade the praesidium to stay in office until new elections are held.
