The five crated airplanes seized last week by U.S. customs officials in New Jersey on suspicion that they were en route to Egypt to be used against the Israelis were owned by a former U.S. Army officer, it was learned here over the week-end.
Government officials declared that the former officer–Lt. Col. Terrell J. Murrell–was also the owner of a B-25 war surplus bomber whose seizure was authorized yesterday by Federal Court Judge Thomas Meaney in Newark. The plane, carrying a crew of four recruited in England and one “passenger,” was forced down near Albany, N.Y., because of bad weather. It is now in Teterboro Airport, under “detention.” Murrell vehemently denied the planes were en route to the Arabs.
