Five synagogues were defaced today by “tar bombs” spattered on their walls and doors by unidentified persons. The police immediately launched an investigation and stationed guards near all synagogues to prevent further attacks.
The DALA, central representative body of Argentine Jewry, in a statement on the attacks, pointed out that they violate the guarantees of the Argentine constitution prohibiting racial and religious discrimination. Di Yiddishe Zeitung, local Jewish newspaper, commented that such attacks have not occurred for a long time.
