Despite the order of the central authorities that Jews and Jewish institutions may display the Reich colors, the secret political police today informed a representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that the Jews will under no circumstances be permitted to fly the colors of the German nation.
“Only local colors will be permitted to be displayed by Jews, but no Reichsbanners,” the chief of the secret political police bureau in this city declared.
The purpose of preventing the Jewish population from displaying the national colors is to provoke animosity against it among the Germans as well as to make a distinction between Jewish and non-Jewish houses and business places.
