Former Knesset member Samuel Flatto-Sharon returned to Israel from Ecuador, complaining bitterly at press reports that he had fled the country to avoid serving a prison sentence.
He said he had cut short his business visit to Latin America in view of the reports, which had been broadcast in Ecuador while he was in the midst of a meeting with potential investors with whom he was discussing financing cheap housing for rental in partnership with the Israel government.
