Hundreds of Jewish families here have been rendered homeless by the flooding of the Jewish quarter owing to the continuous torrential rains.

Many barracks in the Jewish quarter were wholly destroyed, and some of the better class houses were also greatly damaged. In Verria the Jewish quarter “Djuderia” was flooded owing to the overflow of the River Vassilikos. Telephonic and telegraphic communication between Salonica several Jewish centres including Verria are interrupted.

The new Government of Macedonia, M. Fallis, has promised the full support of the Government for the alleviation of the distress.
