Austria’s Nazi authorities have officially announced that Jews will not receive police permission to leave the country under any circumstances unless they sign an agreement never to return, the Daily Telegraph reported today from Vienna. Before receiving permission to emigrate, the Jews must also render an accounting of their property and pay emigration and other taxes.
The Times reports from Berlin that special barracks are being built near that city for Vienna jobless, many of whom formerly were prominent doctors and lawyers, who are now compelled to do road construction work under supervision of Nazi storm troopers.
