President Ford and Gov. Jimmy Carter have sent messages of greetings to the 53rd annual convention of the National Committee for Labor Israel which opens at the New York Hilton Hotel tomorrow. Two thousand delegates are attending.
Ford’s message said: “For over fifty years you have actively sought to build a better standard of living in Israel by supporting Histadrut… Your efforts in the areas of training, rehabilitation, health care, cultural advancement and a host of similar endeavors have added to the vitality of a fine democratic institution and to well being of countless individuals.”
Carter, said in his message: “Histadrut is a unique labor organization in that it combines trade union, industrial, business and political activities. Its programs provide health, social welfare and cultural services to workers, Israeli and Arabs alike, and assist in the integration of newcomers…”
