The Foreign Ministry today denied a press report that it had been instrumental in securing appointments for Dr. Nahum Goldmann with top U.S. administration figures in Washington last week. Dr. Goldmann, president of the World Jewish Congress, met Friday with Presidential Advisor, Dr. Henry Kissinger and Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Joseph J. Sisco. He also had a meeting with Anatoly F. Dobrynin, the Soviet Ambassador to the U.S. (Prior to the meetings. Dr. Goldmann told newsmen in New York that “These talks are purely personal. I am not representing anyone.” He said he “just wants to learn what is going on.”) The Foreign Ministry spokesman told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today that the State Department had informed Israel of Dr. Goldmann’s appointment as “a matter of courtesy.” He said Israel made it clear that Dr. Goldmann was not representing it.
