Foreign Ministry sources tonight disclaimed all knowledge of a reply that foreign newspapers said was expected from Israel by the United Nations peace envoy, Ambassador Gunnar V. Jarring, in connection with alleged peace overtures from Jordan. According to the reports, Jordan asked for Israeli peace terms through Dr. Jarring. A Foreign Ministry spokesman said such overtures had been made by Jordan many times and have always been rejected because Israel insists that anything of a substantive nature be thrashed out in direct talks between the two parties, not through an intermediary.
