The first local committee in the United States for the purpose of assisting the Jewish National Library of the Hebrew University in Palestine was organized here last night. The committee will endeavor to obtain members for the Library with dues from $5 to $10 per year. It is intended also to collect books in every language and send them directly to Jerusalem.
A consignment of books, amounting to 245 volumes from the library of the late Dr. Benjamin S. Neuhausen, has already been shipped. In addition, an amount in cash was subscribed and forwarded for the purpose of binding valuable books.
The committee consists of: Dr. Adolph Coblens, Israel Fine, P. Friedenberg, B. Herman, S. A. Neuhausen, Benjamin Schwartz and Israel Silberstein.
