The formal opening of the Arab-Israeli talks here, sponsored by the United Nations Conciliation Commission for Palestine, may not take place before Thursday although it was scheduled for tomorrow, it was indicated here today.
Ely Palmer, American chairman of the Conciliation Commission, last night dined with Maurice Fischer, head of the Israeli delegation to the parley. Earlier, he met with the head of the Egyptian delegation. So far, no direct contact has been established between the Arab and the Israeli delegates, not even on a social level, In informal talks here, the Israeli delegates stress their view that lasting peace with the Arab nations can best be achieved by direct face-to-face talks rather than through a third party.
